4.0 out of 5 stars Great information, but a misleading title

My Reader Verfied score is 80%. The information in the book is obviously drawn from a great deal of knowledge on the part of the author. However, my expectation from the title of "Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes: All In One Cookbook" was it would contain recipes, cooking directions, and instructions for food preparation, and ingredient information. None of this was provided. There aren't any "recipes." The advice given is sound, but there's not specific guidelines for someone like me who's clueless about where to start. For example, the book states, "Understanding the balance of these macronutrients is key to providing a nutritious diet tailrored to your dog's specific needs which may vary based on age, breed, acitvity level, and health conditions." This is well and good, but there's no starting place, no reference as to what proportion of the diet each macronutrients should be or how to adjust them based on the listed variants. Great information in general, but not what I was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars: 100% Recommend for All Dog Lovers

We have two dogs, Elsa and Daisy.
Elsa is 11 years old and she is hesitant to go down the stairs and isn't able to walk as far as she used to. I suspect it's because of inflammation so I wanted to find a diet that would help her.
Our other dog, Daisy, has turned into a picky eater, and I think it's because she doesn't have enough variety in her food. I wanted to find homemade recipes to give her better options.
I found solutions for both dogs in this book. It's a comprehensive look at what dogs need, with a wide variety of recipe options, and helpful insights into what I should feed Elsa for her joint problems. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants healthier alternatives to help their dogs lead their best lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars: Helpful Guide, Lots of Information

My readerverified score is 97%.

I found Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes: All In One Cookbook to be full of useful information for dog owners interested in preparing healthier meals at home. The book does a great job explaining ingredient quality, nutrition, and the benefits of homemade food for dogs, which I appreciated.

That said, as a reader I personally would have preferred a more recipe-heavy approach. There is a lot of discussion about food quality, health benefits, and general information before getting into the recipes. I was eager to dive straight into the cooking ideas and would have loved to see more recipes earlier in the book.

Overall, it’s still a helpful guide with valuable insights, especially for readers who want to understand the why behind homemade dog food, but if you're primarily looking for a cookbook packed with recipes right away, just be aware that the book starts with quite a bit of background information first.

First off, my 3 dogs (pictured) love good food and treats.

Second, the "Murphy's Peanut Butter Pumpkin Treats" were a big hit, thanks to this book!

Changing food or adding new food to a dog's diet can be tricky and has to be managed carefully. The author talks about this - easing into new food, monitoring results, maybe getting the vet involved. Certainly alot of dog foods out there aren't so healthy, and we want the best for our pets. Quality ones are super expensive, too.

By adding to or converting to a healthier diet, we hope to add to their quality of life and length of life!

For my older dog, I appreciated the section of the book about anti-inflammatory diets.

Whether or not you go full transition, or just add some healthy treats or small bits, this book is worth reading and investigating.
