I really liked this book. I loved Elise's confidence in their courtroom exchanges, you could feel the tension on the pages as she suppressed her attraction to Alexander for professional reasons and each chapter was exciting as I looked forward to the next scheme from the defence.

The writing style was a highlight. Ivy is clearly very talented. It was emotive and detailed, with beautiful language.

There's two reasons it's not quite a five star for me.

Firstly, the pace sometimes felt rushed. There wasn't enough of a pause to paint the scene, and add depth and description to any characters outside of Elise.

Secondly, it tailed off in the last third of the book. Their meetups lacked the weight and excitement of the courtroom exchanges, and there were a few repeated phrases (i.e. Step-by-step. Together) and repetitive scenes that damaged the immersion slightly.

Overall, this is a really good love story, with a captivating and powerful female lead that is definitely worth reading!

My ReaderVerified score is 94%. In Irresistible Adversary: A Billionaire's Love, author Ivy Lowe shows off her legal chops. I don't know if Ms Lowe has any legal schooling, but she definitely did her homework. The court case is crisp, and the legal jargon is spot-on.

What starts as an innocent tryst in Paris turns into an unimaginable decision for a rising prosecutor in Texas. Elise Moreau, our protagonist, is handed her biggest trial to date, only to discover she has to prosecute the billionaire she unknowingly fell in love with in Paris. Now that's entertainment!

All in all, a very enjoyable courtroom and romance drama.
