Championing new voices one honest review at a time.

Two of My Favorite Hacks

Unlike our competitors, we offer more than just an exchange of book reviews. Here at ReaderVerified, you will be part of our family of writers who genuinely want to see you succeed.

While most of our members are new to publishing, many of us have been writing for some time now and are more than willing to share our collective experience with you. Tips and hacks we learned along our journey that can save you valuable time and money.

I will personally share all the free hacks I have learned, some of which bastards charged me for, before I realized they were available for free online.
For example, have you ever wanted to use a 3D picture of your book to post on your social media sites, such as Instagram and Facebook? Here is the link to a free site where you can do just that.

diybookcovers.com – 3D mockups

Here are some examples of what I created using this site’s tools.

Mock ups of Healthy Homemade Dog Food Recipes on Kindle, phone and hardback

After creating this DIY Book Cover, I designed an ad for my social media campaign. It worked exceedingly well.

Don’t think you can’t do this yourself. It’s just a collection of free clipart with some type added.
Easy peasy!

Pro Tip:
Always add a request for an Amazon review at the back of your novel. If you are writing a non-fiction book, add it somewhere in the middle of the book.
Most readers don’t think to go to Amazon and review a book they have read. While Amazon does send out reminder emails, it doesn’t hurt to ask for one in your book, additionally. A non-fiction review request should read something like this. This is what I wrote in my dog cookbook.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH YOUR REVIEW
UNLOCK THE POWER OF GENEROSITY

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”
KATHY CALVIN

Folks who give a piece of their heart without expecting a pat on the back tend to find their lives filled with more wagging tails and wetnosed nuzzles. You can bet your biscuits that if we can sneak a piece of that happiness pie while we are flipping through these pages together, we will certainly do so.

Here’s my question for you…
Would you toss a bone to someone you’ve never met, even if your pup didn’t lead you to them?

Who is this mysterious person, you wonder? Well, they’re a lot like you. Maybe you, from a while back, were less seasoned in the ways of doggy dining, eager to make a difference in their furry pal’s life, looking for a guiding hand but not sure which way to go to the dog park.

Our mission is to create homemade dog food that any paw parent can whip up with a flick of the tail. Everything I do, every recipe I whisk together, is for that mission. But the only way to really spread the word to every human and their hound is to reach… well… everyone.

This is where you wag in. You see, most people choose a book based on its flashy cover (as well as the woofs and wags it gets from others).
So here’s my plea on behalf of a hopeful paw parent you’ve never met:
Please help that dog lover by giving this book a little bark of your own.
Your howl into the world doesn’t cost a dime and takes less time than a belly rub, but it can lead a fellow dog owner to the path of nutritious, tail-waggin’ goodness.

Your shout-out could help…
…one more family enjoys extra years with their playful pup.
…one more dog leap with health and happiness.
…one more human finds joy in the kitchen alongside their furry chef.
…one more four-legged friend gets a shinier coat.
…one more dream of healthy, happy pets comes true.

To get that ‘pawsome’ feeling and truly make a difference, all you’ve got to do is leave a review (yep, less than a doggy minute).

Welcome to the pack. You’re one of the good humans.

Have fun with it, play on the theme of your book. Trust me, the reader is on your side; they already bought your book. Please, don’t beg, that’s icky.

It doesn’t need to be as long as mine, but definitely include one in each and every book you publish.

BTW, I use pen names for my non-fiction books, and Dakota O’Hare is a character in my novels.
Sshh, don’t tell anyone. 🙂
